Kevin will share his 35 years of experience building and monitoring
Eastern Screech-Owl nest boxes. Over the years he’s witnessed the owls utilize his yard to meet their seasonal needs, reproduce, and thrive. Kevin will share his expertise with attendees so they may duplicate his success and host Eastern Screech-Owls of their very own.
Kevin Walsh is a naturalist, educator, lecturer, photographer, and author. In addition to maintaining Eastern Screech-Owl nest boxes, Kevin maintains a trail of Eastern Bluebird nest boxes in Suffolk County. His deployment of trail cameras has helped document Long Island’s river otter resurgence, and captured proof of holdout populations of striped skunk and long-tailed weasel. His stories and nature articles have appeared in The Conservationist, BirdWatching, Newsday, and Bird Watcher’s Digest. He just published his first novel, The Fire Trail: A Summer of Adventure, which chronicles his childhood spent exploring the woods and
fields with his crew of neighborhood friends.
