Reports of shark observations have increased in State waters in recent years and DEC works to support ongoing management and research for sustainable shark conservation efforts in NY. Slightly further down the food chain are striped bass, New York’s official saltwater fish, and an iconic species that DEC has been monitoring for decades. New York State marine recreational records date back to 1951, keeping track of record size catches of 33 different species of recreationally caught fish. Recently, there have been exciting new changes and additions to the Marine Recreational Anglers Records Program. Learn about these DEC programs and how you can get involved! FREE EVENT.
